Elementary Teacher

Overview:

Hope Elementary, a public charter school, seeks energetic, experienced, and dependable certified elementary teacher with a passion working in and urban school setting for the 2015-2016 school year. 

Required Skills:

  • Formalize lesson plans for instructional periods and modify as needed.
  • Relate instructional objectives to elementary curriculum Common Core standards and demonstrate effective decision-making instructional goals.
  • Determine students’ performance using informal and formal assessments and observation
  • Adhere to discipline policy as articulated by the school and develop and implement an appropriate classroom management system.
  • Share responsibility during the school day for the supervision of students in all areas of the school;
  • Present lessons in a clear, well-organized and logical structure, embracing enthusiasm and optimism.
  • Use a variety of instructional materials such as contextual, supplemental, teacher-constructed, audio-visual, hands-on, discovery and activity-based learning.
  • Plan and prepare classroom setting, oversee safety and educational programs, and supervise children in the classroom;
  • Provide a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors; and
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies.
  • Knowledge of The Leader In Me program and meets the expectations regarding our school-wide leadership initiative. 


Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or equivalent
  • Licensed teaching credential
  • Knowledge of the Charter School Movement 
  • Knowledge of The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People 
  • Available to work a full day from 7:45 am - 3:15 pm
  • Applicants must clear a background check and provide professional references.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency with technology and commitment to the unique role it plays in the educational arena of the 21st Century.
  • Exhibits strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Utilizes technology to effectively communicate with staff, parents and the administrative team.

Substitute Teachers

Overview:

Hope Elementary, a public charter school, seeks energetic, experienced, and dependable substitute teachers. Substitute teachers will work in our Kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms.

Responsibilities: 

  • Adhere to discipline policy as articulated by the school.
  • Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities;
  • Share responsibility during the school day for the supervision of students in all areas of the school;
  • Plan and prepare classroom setting, oversee safety and educational programs, and supervise children in the classroom;
  • Provide a supportive environment in which children can learn and practice appropriate and acceptable individual and group behaviors; and
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies.

Qualifications: 

  • Associates degree or higher from an accredited institution;
  • Experience teaching or assisting in an urban environment;
  • Available to work a full day from 7:45 am - 3:15 pm
