My name is Kendra Smith and I am the 4th/5th grade teacher as well as Hope’s SST Coordinator.
This is my first year at Hope Elementary Charter School and I am extremely happy to have found a new “home” to spread my knowledge and passion for teaching.
I attended North Carolina Central University (GO EAGLES), for undergraduate and graduate school. I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Sciences and Early Childhood Education and minored in Special education. I later obtained my Masters of Arts in Teaching degree with a concentration in Learning Disabilities and another Bachelors of Arts degree in General Education. I absolutely loved my college experience and encourage all my students to strive for going to college.
I have been teaching for 14 years in Wake County Public School System. I have taught Special Education, self-contained and resource classes for my entire career and I have a passion for the exceptional children’s population. I thrive off of seeing a student get an “ah-ha” moment when they accomplish something they have been working hard to grasp. I LOVE TEACHING!!!!
I don’t have children of my own, however, I am co-parenting my 6 year old twin nephews, Cameron and Caleb and my 2.5 year old niece, Kennedi. They are my world! I have a pet pit bull, Annie who I took in as an orphan.
In my spare time I enjoy singing, dancing, and entertaining my friends. I like to travel and go to music concerts. I love the arts. I look forward to spending many years at Hope Elementary Charter School promoting quality education and changing lives.
