Richard M. Rubin – Principal

As we conclude the third quarter, I would like to thank all of you for your support and cooperation so far this year. We have had an excellent year. Hopefully this excellence will be reflected in our End of Grade Tests. We have been concentrating on meeting students where they are and taking them as far as they are willing to go this year. Our Eagles are flying. The flight is no where near over!!

Time and again, I have reminded you about the importance of having your children here on time, everyday for the full day. Once again, I need to remind you of this and how much this means. School starts at 8:00. School ends at 2:45. Our staff is dedicated to work with your children all day long. Every time a child arrives late, is absent or leaves early is an interruption to instruction. Interruptions to instruction are one of the major obstacles for learning. Learning is why you send your children to school. Instructing is why we are here.

I sent home a notice a few days ago reminding you that school really does end at 2:45. Everyday several of our students are picked up early. We certainly understand if there is a family emergency or an appointment or illness, but this is often not the case. We would sincerely like you to make whatever adjustments are necessary to your schedule so that your child can and will benefit from instruction that goes until the end of the school day.

The fourth quarter is a very important time of the school year. Teachers in kindergarten through grade two are trying to finish up a very high powered curriculum in order to assure that their students are ready and prepared for the next academic year. Teachers in grades three through five are busy completing curriculum and preparing students for their EOGs. This year the EOGs are the fist week of June. The time will fly quickly. There is much work to be done/

Our students love to dress out on Fridays. For the last quarter we are raising the bar regarding dressing out. Aside from doing the best they can, completing all assignments and homework, we are not going to allow students to dress out if they arrive late, without a legal excuse or if they leave early without a legal excuse. A legal excuse is once again, a family emergency, illness or a doctor’s appointment.

One of the best parts of completing a quarter here at Hope Elementary Charter School is our Award’s Assembly. This quarter it is Thursday, March 22nd at 1:30. Please plan on attending.

Finally, we hope that everyone has a great track out period. Our track out starts on Monday, March 26th and ends on Monday, April 16th. All students will have a track out packet. Completion of the track out packet is mandatory.
