Hope Elementary Charter School
Richard M. Rubin – Principal
Welcome to Hope Elementary Charter School for those of you who are new and welcome back to those returning. We are very excited about this school year and are looking forward to working with you and your children.
We know that the more you are involved in your child’s education the more successful your child will be. Consequently, I am asking you to attend our first quarterly meeting on Tuesday, August 10th. Information will be coming to you directly from your child’s teacher regarding time and items that will be discussed. It is very important that you know what is going on and what we are teaching and what your child should be learning. We look forward to seeing you that evening.
Just a reminder to all: our doors open at 7:15 each morning. School starts at 8:00. Students need to be here on time so that they can begin learning as soon as possible. If your child attends the Salvation Army program they will be loaded on the bus at 2:35. Our regular bus riders will be dismissed at 2:45.
Daily attendance is crucial to success. As well as being here on time, students need to be here everyday unless they are sick or there is a family emergency. Attendance and punctuality are important in the real world to keep a job and they are important here at school in order to learn.
During the course of the year each class will probably go on one or more field trips. A blanket field trip permission slip should be coming home soon. If you sign it then your child will be able to go on whatever field trips are scheduled during the year. You will be notified by the classroom teacher telling you the date, time and location of each trip as they are scheduled.
As I write you this update, we do have room in all grade levels except for kindergarten. Remember that our class size maximum is 20 and that there is either a full time or part time Teacher Assistant assigned to each classroom. Also remember that if your child is registered at Hope they are eligible to attend the Salvation Army after school program and track out camp for a fraction of the cost that others must pay. Please let your neighbors and friends know that we have room and that we made significant academic growth last year and are well on our way in becoming one of the most successful charter schools in the area!!!
