Dear Parents:

We are rapidly approaching the middle of the first quarter. Things appear to be going smoothly. Students are coming to school ready to learn. We are truly off to a great start.

Recently you received an invitation to participate in our PTO. We are looking for officers as well as members. The letter included all the scheduled dates and asked you to respond this week if you would like to serve as an officer or member. Please consider this. We all know that the more you get involved the better the chance your child will succeed.

Our School Improvement Team has a meeting next week. At that time we will finalize our building wide goals and our strategies. As soon as these are complete I will share them with you. Obviously, we are looking at continuing to improve our EOG scores, as well as reducing suspensions, increasing enrollment and fine tuning the support we provide to those students most in need.

As many of you know, Mrs. Angela Leach left us for a wonderful professional opportunity; Mrs. Muhammad has replaced her as the teacher assistant in first grade. A state grant enabled us to rehire Mr. Thrash who works with us as a Crisis Intervention counselor in grades 2 and 3. Mrs. Edmonds re-retired and we were able to add Ms. Myers-Russell as a teacher assistant for grades 4 and 5. We welcome our new additions!!

Please remember that school is closed, Monday, September 6th in observance of Labor Day.

Thank you all for your continued support and patience regarding our bus route issues. We are working hard to resolve the route problems and finalize the schedule.
