Where is Hope Elementary located?

Hope Elementary is located in the heart of downtown Raleigh in the old Barbee School building. It is near Peace College and Krispy Kreme on the corner of Blount and Poplar Streets.

How long has Hope Elementary been in existence?

Hope initially opened its doors in 1998 as a private Christian school under the direction of Building Together Ministries. Hope began operating as a charter school in July 2001.

How would you describe the facility?

The facility has large classrooms that are located on one level. There is state of the art computer lab in the basement of the building. Hope has a cafeteria, auditorium, and well-equipped recreation areas located near the school for student use.

Does Hope Elementary follow the traditional school schedule?

Hope is a year round public school with 9-week instructional blocks and 3-week track out periods each quarter.

When does the school year begin?

The school year begins in late July or early August and runs through the end of June.

When do students begin to enroll at Hope Elementary?

Hope has open enrollment by application each spring.

Is there a fee to attend Hope Elementary?

There is no tuition required.

Do students wear uniforms?

Yes, all students at Hope Elementary wear sky blue tops and navy bottoms. Students wear uniforms to set an atmosphere of order and equal opportunity for achievement.

How many students are in each class?

There is an average of 18-20 students in each class. Each class has a teacher and a teacher assistant.

Does your school employ an Exceptional Children’s Teacher?

Yes, fulltime.

Are parents actively involved with your school?

Yes! Parent empowerment has been determined to have a positive impact on children. Hope parents participate in parent teacher conferences and assist in the classroom. Hope has room moms and room dads meetings monthly to plan school wide activities. Some of these activities include Thanksgiving feasts, fundraisers, classroom activities, field trips, and class nights.

The word “Hope” is defined as a desire accompanied by anticipation and expectation. The learning community of Hope Elementary desires that every student build a strong foundation for life. Ultimately, Hope Elementary seeks to create a team of students, parents, faculty, and community members that support the overall success of the school. We are partners in high student achievement.
