Welcome
Thank you for visiting our school website. Hopefully as you read this you will be impressed and surprised as you learn about all the exciting programs and events that we have here all year long. As I write you this update, we do still have limited availability in most of our classrooms. Remember that we have small class sizes and that there is either a full time or part time Teacher Assistant assigned to each classroom. Also remember that if your child is registered at Hope they are eligible to attend the Salvation Army after school program and track out camp for a fraction of the cost that others must pay. Please let your neighbors and friends know that we have room and that we made significant academic growth last year and are well on our way in becoming one of the most successful charter schools in the area!!!
You can find an application on this site. If you find that our school may be an option for your children then I encourage you to complete the application and get it to us as soon as possible. You can also call the school and schedule a time to come for a tour and to pick up an application. The number is (919) 834-0941.
Our students continue to make significant growth.
We are a K-5 elementary school with one class for each grade level. Class size is capped at 20. Teachers in kindergarten and grade one have a full time teacher assistant. Teachers in grades 2-5 have a teaching assistant for part of the school day.
The small size of the school and the small class sizes allow us to operate like a family. The staff works very diligently to provide our students with a solid well rounded program aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and includes daily lessons focusing on self esteem, behavior management and getting along successfully with others.
All students experience 90 minutes of language arts and 90 minutes of math every morning five days a week. We are working, in earnest, to assure that all our students have the basic skills in all academic areas while fostering and promoting the love of reading and discovery.
We have a well-equipped computer lab that supports learning on all grade levels. Our full time computer instructor provides technology enrichment opportunities for all students as well as professional development for staff. Computers are up and running in all classrooms as we move into using technology as an instructional tool.
Students are engaged in music and art weekly, along with daily physical fitness activities. Students in grades 2-5 also have Spanish to enrich their day. A full instructional support staff including Title I services in math and reading and a special education resource teacher help those most in need.
We are very proud of our school and the progress we are making. We know we are providing our students with a safe and healthy place in which to learn and grow and experience success. Hope Elementary Charter School is a great place to be and is becoming a greater place each day.
Come and join us on our adventure. Call us for more information or make an appointment for a tour or sign up to be a volunteer.
Sincerely,
Richard M. Rubin – Principal
