First Grade
From the desk of Mrs. Mann
Welcome to first grade! My name is Charmelle Man. This is my 13th year of teaching. I’ve taught within both Wake County Public Schools and the Charter School System. I am originally from New York. I have two children, Craig and Starr. I also have two pets; my dog Tiger, and my leopard gecko, Kimono. I am very excited to be back at Hope Charter School. If you should need to reach me the best way is by email. My email address is cmann@hopecharterschool.org.
Homework
Homework folders will be sent home daily. Please help your child complete
the assignment and initial the proper column. Too many students are not
completing homework which will affect their homework grade on the report
card.
Behavior
The behavior system that is in place will remain the same. If a student
needs too many reminders regarding school and classroom rules, they will
move their stick. The colors range from blue – green – yellow – red. If a
child ends on red, a note will be sent home or a comment will be made on
the homework sheet to indicate the reason.
Breakfast/Snack
Many children come into the room first thing in the morning hungry. It
is important that your child is fed breakfast in order to start their day
with much needed nutrients. If you want to send breakfast with your child
because they were unable to eat at home, then by all means do so. I will give
them a few minutes to eat during morning work. Please send a healthy
snack daily for your child as well. I can help provide snack on occasion. If
there are parents willing to donate snacks, the students would greatly
appreciate it.
Tuesday Folders
When Tuesday folders go home there will be important information that
may require a parent signature inside. All class work should be removed
and used as practice at home. Please help your child remember to return the
Tuesday folder the following day. It will count toward homework. This will
help encourage responsibility.
