Second Grade
Monica Huband, 2nd Grade Teacher
My name is Monica Huband. I attended college at Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond Virginia, where I earned a bachelors degree in English and a masters degree in Elementary Education. After graduating from college I taught for three years in the public schools of Richmond. After that I decided to do something spontaneous and I spent a year teaching in Fort Collins, Colorado. After a year away from my family I came to the conclusion that my home is on the east coast, and I decided to move to Raleigh. I love this city because of its proximity to the mountains and the beach. I also love the excellent farmer’s market and the kindness of the people I’ve met here.
My goal as a teacher is to help students achieve academic success so that they will become life long learners. I want to show my students that education is fun and exciting. I hope that the students who pass through my classroom will leave with confidence in their ability to succeed in school.
